Sofia. 14 years old

Before the full-scale invasion began, Sofia’s family lived in the village of Vovchanski Khutory, Kharkiv region. When the war broke out, they learned what it meant to live under constant shelling. The horrors they experienced forced the mother and her two children to leave their home and go into evacuation. Now the family lives in Novoyavorivsk, Lviv region, trying to adapt to a new life. The children’s father, a loyal defender of Ukraine, joined the Armed Forces to fight for his children’s future. After the fighting in the Donetsk region, he was reported missing, but later it became known that he had been fatally wounded. However, the man’s body has not yet been found, and his family has not been able to give him a proper burial. Despite the pain of loss and uncertainty, Sofia finds the strength to move on and keeps the memory of her dad, the Hero, in her heart.

Description

There is a second front of the Russian war against Ukraine – and it is full of children who have lost their mothers and/or fathers in this terrible conflict. They are not ready to fight, they cannot call for help, and they cannot turn to The Hague for support. But we must not forget them. They are building the future of our country. We are morally obliged to help these Children of Heroes.
Thus, the Foundation’s mission is to support the orphans of war by providing them with care, warmth and security as we rebuild our country and our lives. We thank them for the contribution of their parents and will give them the strength to overcome their tragic loss. Our goal is to help these children become the best representatives of the Ukrainian nation and integrate them into the global community.
